Lisa Emerson, Ph.D. (Clinical Fellow)
Dr. Lisa Emerson received her doctorate in clinical psychology from
Seattle Pacific University where she specialized in the treatment of
children and families. She has extensive training in the delivery of
evidence-based interventions and has worked with children, adolescents,
and parents in a variety of clinical and research settings including
Seattle Children's Hospital Research Institute, the Child Health
Institute, and the Behavioral Medical Research Group at the University
of Washington. Dr. Emerson completed her predoctoral internship at the
University of Washington Parenting Clinic under the training of Dr.
Carolyn Webster-Stratton where she focused on the cognitive behavioral
treatment of families of children diagnosed with attention and conduct
disorders. In addition to training in pediatric assessment, her
background also includes experience in the treatment of mood disorders
in adolescents and in the use of cognitive behavioral interventions for
the management of symptoms in children with chronic disease.
Dr. Emerson has a clinical interest in the treatment of anxiety and
stress-related disorders and provides treatment for obsessive-compulsive
disorder, specific phobias, social phobia, panic disorder, generalized
anxiety disorder, PTSD, and repetitive body disorders (trichotillomania
and skin picking). Her interests also include the use of
parent-delivered behavioral intervention for the management of childhood
psychological disorders and she provides behaviorally focused training
to the parents of children struggling with attention issues, anxiety,
and oppositional behaviors. Dr. Emerson is a member of the American
Psychological Association.
